For the unique needs of each child
The Head2Toe Programme for DCD/Dyspraxia
Head2Toe is a specialised gross motor intervention programme designed to support children with Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), Dyspraxia, or developmental delays.
The programme breaks down complex gross motor skills into manageable, attainable steps, drawing from 30 years of experience in the field of motor skill acquisition.
By incorporating structured exercises and activities, Head2Toe aims to enhance motor coordination, strength, and confidence while fostering cognitive engagement.
The programme is tailored to meet the unique needs of each child, emphasizing inclusivity and personal growth.
Through its targeted approach, Head2Toe provides children with the tools they need to build foundational motor skills and succeed in both physical and everyday activities.

Who will benefit from H2T
Children ages 4-12 with Dyspraxia or gross motor developmental delays will benefit from H2T circuits programme. For older children, who would like to ‘sharpen up’ their fundamental skills, we offer a variety of alternative classes.
What is Dyspraxia?
Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) or Dyspraxia as it is more commonly referred to is a neurological condition which interferes with the ability of young children to perform everyday tasks due to motor dysfunction and impacts between 5-6% of the children in Ireland. A child with DCD may have difficulty with gross motor skills such as coordination, balance, and locomotion as well as performing fine motor activities such as getting dressed and handwriting.
Why are Gross Motor Skills Important?
Gross motor (GM) skills are vital to a child’s development, fostering independence, self-confidence, and the ability to navigate the world more effectively.
These skills extend beyond the playground, influencing all areas of life. A child’s willingness to engage in physical activities is closely tied to their confidence in possessing the necessary skills.
While physical activity provides well-known health benefits, such as improved strength, cardiovascular health, and reduced mortality rates, its impact goes far beyond physical well-being. Activities and play often lead to friendships, helping children develop social skills and a sense of belonging.
Additionally, active play stimulates imagination and creativity, making it a cornerstone of early development. The combined physical and mental health benefits of gross motor skill development are invaluable for every child.

- Frequently bumps into things or falls.

The screening process & getting started
Screening Process
You can contact us to request a convenient time for the H2T screening or use our online booking calendar to book a time. The screening process consists of two parts:
- Parent/Teacher Questionnaire: A short questionnaire to be completed by the parent or teacher.
- Motor Skill Screening: A 30-minute session for the child conducted at the H2T Centre, Monksland, Athlone, County Roscommon (Eircode: N37K6X8).
The screening helps us determine whether H2T is a suitable programme for your child. If it is, we will collaborate with you to arrange a convenient schedule for the weekly sessions.
If not, we will recommend alternative activities that may better meet your child’s needs.
For those who will benefit from our programme, we will enrol your child in the H2T programme which involves a weekly session and use of the H2T Home App.
How do we get started with H2T?
If you have concerns about your child’s physical challenges, send us an email to head2toeireland@gmail.com , text 0876199621, or click HERE to fill out our contact form. We will guide you from there.
Weekly sessions
Each session lasts 55 minutes and follows a circuit training format. Each week begins with a warm-up and a lap around the hall, referred to as the ‘Champion’s Circuit.’
Your child will be part of a group of 3-4 peers of a similar age, completing a six-station circuit training programme. While sessions are conducted in groups, each child’s programme is customized to address their unique needs.
In addition, a few “free play” sets are incorporated into each session where the children can explore the alternative activities around the gym.
How long will my child attend sessions?
Our goal is to help your child build confidence and achieve their goals—whether that’s participating in school, after-school activities, or other pursuits—as quickly as possible.
Some children may benefit from just 2-3 H2T sessions, while others may choose to continue for longer. There is no set number of sessions—we are here to support your child for as long as they need or want our help.
H2T Home App
Practise and repetition are vital for your child’s progress. To support this, we encourage parents and teachers to actively participate through our H2T Home App.
Each parent will receive access to the app, which features hundreds of skills from the H2T programme. After each weekly session, detailed instructions and guidance will be provided to help maximize your child’s progress.
